Origin 'Man: First Reflection'

This piece is also made entirely from sand and dirt. It explores a simple but profound truth: for most of human history, people lived without knowing what they looked like. Mirrors were rare or non-existent. A person’s only glimpse of themselves would have come through still water.

Man: First Reflection imagines the moment when early consciousness encountered its own image - the first time earth became aware of itself. As Carl Sagan once said, “We are a way for the universe to know itself.” This is that moment.
